Shankara Darby

Ashtanga teacher Shankara Darby Feb 3 to 5 2012.

Shankara brings a fresh and unique approach to the Ashtanga Vinyasa System.

Explanations are kept simple and exploring of the principles of Asana and Pranayama are given on many levels and from different angles.Each will find something to work with that is immediately accessible. Five sessions will be included in the workshop, like an extended practice, each topic leading into the next, with time for reflection and integration.
Friday night 5:45-8:30 pm Ujai Breath and Vinyasa
Saturday A.M. 9-11:30 am The relationship of Meditation with Breath and Bandha
Saturday P.M. 1-4 pm The western body and Vinyasa Yoga
Sunday A.M. 9-11:30 am Keeping the lineage clean; the simplicity of the primary series
Sunday P.M. 1-4 pm Intention; opening, maintaining, and closing a practice
We will have short guided Meditations and Pranayama as a means to bring the group to unity and each to a more receptive space. It is a workshop for all, both a deep learning experience, as well as an opportunity to indulge in yoga, which is bound to be uplifting and energizing in the middle of February ; ) Cost is $175 for whole weekend or $40 per session.Please phone 780 660 0713 to register.

2012 200- Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training with Mark and Shankara Darby

2012 Teacher Training Course content: Yogic &Taoist Philosophy as the basis or inspiration to your approach.
Breath & Vinyasa-

Learning the mechanism of breath and its affect on the physical body, on the emotional body, and on the mental body.

Bandha & posture-

Optimizing and understanding bandhas and their affect on one's body. Bringing this understanding to the various asanas with a clear purpose of circulating the energy flow in the body.

Drishti-

Bringing the state of mind that makes yoga a transformative process.

Anatomy-

Learning very specific anatomy that goes along with the course content. Basic anatomy will be part of the suggested readings. (Guest speaker) Esoteric anatomy, to understand how this practice is beyond the physical body.

Chanting-

We will explore several aspects of the voice and its use in breaking through blockages in the body. (Guest speaker)

Meditation-

Bringing a meditative state to all our practices, various approaches will be explored.

The second aspect of the training will involve gaining the confidence and developing the skills that will allow you to transmit your own experience through:

-Using words, to give concise & progressive verbal instruction -Adjustments, both safe and clear -Reading into the postural imbalances of the students
Cost: Registration deadline is Jan 31st 2012 to ensure we meet minimum numbers

$2,600 before Jan 31st 2012 + gst $2,900 after deadline + gst

Minimum deposit of 100$ (non refundable) required to reserve space-payable by Jan 31st 2012. After Jan 31st: $500 will be non refundable.

We offer a discount on the yearly membership whilst doing the Teacher Training ($800 instead of $1000) and you may apply for our apprenticeship program, which involves assisting in mysore classes and practicing and learning adjustments.

Weekend Schedule: Friday: 5:45 - 8:45 Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Sattva Yoga Shala is registered with the Yoga Alliance (RYS).

At the end of the course, if the student has fulfilled all the requirements required, they will receive a 200-hour Certificate of yoga training which is recognized by the Yoga Alliance of North America.
